Questions About Bringing Your Vehicle In
What should I tell you when I have a car problem?
Tell us what has changed and when you notice it.
For example, let us know if you hear an unfamiliar noise, feel a vibration, notice a warning light, experience a change in steering or braking, or find that your vehicle is performing differently.
You do not need to know the technical name for the problem. Describing what you see, hear, or feel gives the technician useful information for evaluating the concern.
What if I do not know which automotive service I need?
That is okay. You do not have to diagnose the vehicle before contacting an auto mechanic.
Explain the symptoms you are experiencing. The purpose of evaluating the vehicle is to identify what may require attention and provide you with information about the appropriate next step.
Why is diagnosis important before a repair?
Similar symptoms can have different causes. A vibration, unusual noise, steering change, or performance concern does not always point to one specific component.
Diagnosis helps reduce guesswork and gives you better information before repair decisions are made. Our shop offers computer diagnostics as part of our automotive services.
Wheel Alignment Questions
What can cause me to suspect a wheel alignment problem?
A vehicle that pulls or tracks differently, an off-center steering wheel, unusual tire wear, or a change in handling can be reasons to have the alignment checked.
These symptoms can also have other causes, including tire or front-end conditions. Visit our Wheel Alignment page for a more detailed explanation of alignment concerns.
Is wheel alignment the same as wheel balancing?
No. The two services address different areas.
Wheel alignment concerns the positioning and angles of the wheels relative to the vehicle. Wheel balancing addresses how weight is distributed around the tire and wheel assembly to help it rotate smoothly. Mastic Wheel Alignment & Brake Service provides wheel alignments, tire services, and wheel balancing.
Brake Service Questions
When should I have a brake concern checked?
Pay attention when braking starts to sound, feel, or respond differently.
New squealing, grinding, scraping, pedal changes, vibration during braking, or noticeable changes in stopping behavior are all reasons to have the concern evaluated.
Our Brake Repair page explains common symptoms in greater detail.
Does an unusual brake sound tell me exactly what needs repair?
No. A noise can be an important symptom, but the sound by itself does not necessarily identify the exact cause or repair.
A technician can evaluate the braking concern and provide information based on the condition of the vehicle rather than relying on assumptions.
